Kiev: An Air Force plane has crashed in Ukraine. Twenty-two people, including army cadets, were reported killed in the incident. A Ukrainian minister told AFP that two others had been seriously injured in the crash. The plane had 28 people on board, including 21 military students. The minister said the reason behind the incident could not be ascertained. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he would visit the scene on Saturday.
The President wrote on Facebook that we are urgently setting up a commission to investigate all the circumstances and causes of the tragedy. According to reports, the Antonov-26 transport plane crashed at Ukraine time 8:50 pm (17:50 GMT), two kilometers from the Chuhiv Air Force Y base. The plane caught fire after the accident. The fire took an hour to contain.
The city of Chuhiv is about 30 kilometers southeast of Kharkiv and 100 kilometers west of the front line with pro-Russian separatists.
