All the jewelery has also been sold to fight cases in court: Anil Ambani

LONDON:
Debtor businessman Anil Ambani told a UK court on Friday that he lived a simple life, drove only one car and sold his jewelery to pay court fees. He said that between January and June 2020, he got Rs 9.9 crore for all his jewelery and now he has nothing. When asked about the fleet of luxury cars, he said: "These are just rumors in the media. I never had a Rolls Royce. Currently, I use a car. ”

On May 22, 2020, the UK High Court ordered Ambani to pay Rs. 5,281 crore and the remaining debt of Rs. 7 crore was ordered to be paid. However, the amount was not paid by Anil Ambani. On June 15, Chinese banks led by the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Ltd. sought a declaration of their assets.

On June 29, Master Davis ordered Ambani to give an affidavit on all his assets of more than ,000 100,000 anywhere in the world. Whether in their own name, or solely or jointly owned, and in which they are legally, beneficially or otherwise interested.

Ambani appeared before the court for cross-examination from India via video-conference on Friday. The court said he still owed his mother Rs 500 crore and his son Anmol Rs 310 crore.

Ambani said he had paid Rs. 5 crore and the terms and conditions of both the loans have not been recalled. He further said that his 12 million equity shares in Reliance Innovations are completely worthless. As well as he has no financial interest in any trust in the world, including his family.

"You are not keeping proper evidence. Is your financial interest associated with the trust?" Said Bankim Thanki QC, a lawyer representing Chinese banks in the UK High Court. The court found that Mukesh Ambani's bank balance was Rs 40.2 lakh as on December 31, 2019, which dropped to Rs 20.8 lakh overnight on January 1, 2020.

Ambani admitted in court that he used to be one of the richest people in India, but now he has only one piece of art worth 1, 110,000. On which the lawyer of the Chinese bank asked, "Why don't Tina and Anil Ambani give information about the collection?" To this question, Ambani said that this is my wife's collection. She asked for my permission because I was her husband. He said that in the year 2019-20, no professional fee was taken from Reliance Infrastructure. The kind of situation they have doesn’t seem to get them anything this year either.

"My expenses are very low which my wife and family can afford," Anil Ambani told a UK court. I have no hifi lifestyle. There is no other way to earn. I am also deducting my legal expenses by selling jewelry. I hope to get approval from the court to sell other properties for the remaining expenses. '

When asked about the private helicopter, Ambani said, "I only pay for personal use." He said I did not use it during the lockdown. "There are also reports that you have gifted a luxury motor yacht to wife Tina," Thanki said. In reply he said that the yacht is in the name of a company. I am afraid of the sea so I have used it only once when it came to us.

Asked in court about the credit card bills, which revealed that he was shopping in London, California, Beijing and other places, Ambani replied that it was my mother who did the shopping. At his home in Mumbai, Ambani slammed the power companies for an eight-month bill of Rs 60.6 lakh. Said companies offer electricity at very high prices.

A spokesperson for Anil Ambani said in a statement after the court hearing, "They have always believed in living a normal life. While many rumors are flying about him. On the other hand, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, the Export and Import Bank of China and the China Development Bank also said that they would use all the remaining legal action against Ambani.
