Today is the birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh. The entire nation is remembering him on the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. Today we are discussing Bhagat Singh's birth anniversary, whether Gandhi tried to save Bhagat Singh or not. This topic is often discussed.
The pride of the amazing martyrdom of a 23-year-old young man Bhagat Singh and the complaint of an old Gandhi being unable to save him come together. Whether it is Bombay films made on Bhagat Singh or passionate expressions of youth on social media, Gandhi is sometimes shown in a negative role in these.
It is said that there should be two freedom fighters in history who could not get the proper place. One name is of Bhagat Singh and the other is of Subhash Chandra Bose. It is also said that Subhash Chandra Bose and Bhagat Singh were of the same ideology. If Nehru and Gandhi had wanted, Bhagat Singh Rajguru and Sukhdev could have been saved from hanging.
The path of Gandhi and Bhagat Singh was completely different with respect to complete Swaraj. Gandhi considered non-violence to be the greatest weapon and said that the eye would blind the whole world in return for the eye, whereas Bhagat Singh clearly believed that a blast was needed to awaken the deaf. One's path was focused only on the transfer of political power while the other's vision was to transform independent India into a socialist and an egalitarian society.
The next morning after Bhagat Singh was hanged on March 24, 1931, as soon as Gandhi arrived at the Malir station near Karachi (in present-day Pakistan), the young men of the Red Kurtidari Bharat Sabha made flowers made of black cloth. Presented the garland to Gandhiji. In Gandhiji's own words, those flowers of black cloth symbolized the ashes of the pyre of the three patriots.
Addressing the press representatives in Karachi on 26 March, he said, "I could not get the death sentence of Bhagat Singh and his associates changed and that is why the youth have shown their anger towards me." These young men could have showered these flowers on me or thrown them at me, but they did not do all this and allowed me to take flowers from their hands and I gratefully took these flowers.
Of course, they have destroyed Gandhiism and shouted the slogans of 'Go back to Gandhi' and I consider this to be a true demonstration of his anger. But in this press conference he further said - In this country full of self-oppression and cowardice, we cannot get so much courage and sacrifice. The forehead falls in front of the courage and sacrifice of Bhagat Singh.
But if I can say without offending my young brothers, then I want to see even greater courage. I want a humble, gentle and non-violent courage who hangs on the floor without hurting anyone or even having the idea of hurting someone in mind. Now the question whether Gandhiji did not try to save Bhagat Singh.
Gandhi and Bhagat Singh may have had a different path to get independence and there were differences between them, but by the end of the phase, Gandhi had a lot of sympathy for Bhagat Singh. Mahatma Gandhi wrote a private letter on 23 March 1928 and appealed to ban the hanging of Bhagat Singh and his associates.
