The Rupani government has decided not to hold a state-level Navratri festival this year due to the corona virus. Navratri is also being affected this year by the Korona virus which has spread all over the world. Garba is unlikely to be held in most party plots. For the first time this year, Garud Garbi of Rajkot, which is now famous in Saurashtra, will not be organized.
This year, for the first time in the 125-year history, Navratri will not be held in Gujarat, especially in the city of Rajkot, given the rising number of corona virus cases. Garuda Garbi is the oldest Garbi of Rajkot city. Held at Ramnathpara Chowk in the city for about 125 years, Mataji is worshiped by Avanava Raas like Athango, Tippani Raas, Maniyaro and Bedaras.
If we look at this proud history, it was started by Lakhajiraj Bapu. At that time, a wooden eagle was made based on the belief that Garbi comes to play under Maa Jagdamba from the top of Darbargadh. In Garbi, girls dressed as gods and goddesses would sit and the eagle would come down. This arrogance, which started before independence, has survived even in the midst of the recent rasotsav. Thousands of people used to come every year to witness the
Garbi. As a result, many Gujarati people, starting from doctors, had given instructions not to organize Navratri. After which the Rupani government announced that the state level Navratri festival would not be held from October 17 to 25.
