The match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab on Thursday was the worst day for Virat Kohli. In this match, Kohli dropped two catches by KL Rahul. The team later lost by a huge margin of 97 runs. Now, team captain Virat Kohli has been fined for slow over rate in the match against Punjab.
According to CricketBuzz, Kohli bowled three fast bowlers early in the match. The first innings of the match, played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, lasted 1 hour and 51 minutes. Captain Virat Kohli has been fined Rs 12 lakh for slow over rate in this match.
For the first time this season in the IPL, RCB was fined under the IPL's Code of Conduct for slow over rate. After winning the toss early in the match, Kohli decided to field because he was confident that his team could easily chase the target. However, something different happened in the second innings of the match.
In the first innings, Kings XI Punjab scored 132 for 3 in the 16th over. The Kings then benefited from Virat Kohli's poor fielding. KL Rahul was likely to be caught out twice before hitting a century. However, both times Virat Kohli dropped his catch. Rahul got the first Jeevandar 83 runs and the second 89 runs. With the help of Rahul, Punjab scored 71 runs in the last 4 overs without losing a single wicket and took the score to 206.
Speaking of the second innings of the match, Virat Kohli could not do anything special and was dismissed for 1 off 5 balls in the fourth innings. Against Punjab's bowling attack, the Bangalore team collapsed like a palace of cards and the entire team was all out for 109 runs in 17 overs.
