New Delhi: Due to the global epidemic corona virus, the country's economy has shrunk. Now the central government is increasing inflation to deal with the economic crisis. There are reports that soon the central government may increase the tax on diesel and petrol. Excise duty on petrol and diesel may increase by three to six rupees.
On these reports, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Rahul tweeted and wrote, 'Prime Minister, stop looting the public, stop giving money to your friends, be self-sufficient.
According to information received from sources, the central government is in the process of raising resources to deal with the situation arising out of the Corona crisis. The government believes that if the price of petrol and diesel is increased, there will be a profit of 60 crores in the entire financial year. Soon new prices of petrol and diesel will be announced. Along with increasing excise duty, the government wants to ensure that this does not affect the retail prices of petrol and diesel.
The government believes that due to the impact on retail prices, inflation in the country may increase, which will not be good for the economy. However, experts believe that this is the right time to increase excise duty because in India, petrol-diesel prices have not been increased for the last one month.
In March this year, the Central Government acquired the right to increase excise duty of Rs 18 on petrol and Rs 12 on diesel from Parliament. In May, the central government increased excise duty on petrol by Rs 12 and on diesel by Rs 9. Please tell that at the moment, 70 percent excise duty tax is levied on petrol and diesel in the country. If it increases again, this rate will be 75 to 80 percent.
