Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami is lodged in jail in a case of incitement to suicide. The Bombay High Court on Saturday reserved its judgment on interim bail instead of granting him immediate relief. After hearing both the parties, a bench of Justices SS Shinde and Ms Karnik said they would expedite their order instead of giving any date.
Arnab has allowed them to apply to the lower court if they wish. The High Court has directed the lower court to give a verdict within four days if Arnab files a petition. The case was heard in the Bombay High Court for six hours on Saturday. Arnab Goswami has been arrested for allegedly inciting Mumbai-based interior designer and his mother to commit suicide.
Journalist Goswami has been remanded in judicial custody till November 18. Goswami is currently lodged in a school in Alibag which has been shifted to the Kovid-19 center of Alibag Jail. Earlier, Arnab was detained by a team of Raigad police from his Mumbai home on Wednesday morning. After sitting in the police van, Arnab claimed that the police had also beaten him up. However, the video released by the police shows Arnab obstructing the work of the police.
