ASP mourns death of Tinki in UP police, helped solve 47 cases in 6 years

Mohd Dilshad, Muzaffarnagar: The wave of mourning at the Muzaffarnagar Police Department turned again on Tuesday when a female sniffer dog Tinki, deployed in the Dog Squad, died.
He made his debut as a constable in 2014 and has had a long record since then. She had a tremendous ability to detect crime, which led to her being promoted six times in six years and becoming an ASP in a very short time.

Muzaffarnagar police were not ready for the manner in which the eight-year-old member of the Dog Squad fell ill. Within a few days he died of an intestinal infection. Police said goodbye to his partner on Tuesday morning.

German Shepherd, Tinki was recruited from the National Dog Training Center of BSF Academy in Gwalior. Muzaffarnagar was his first posting as a sniffer dog. ‘She was clever, fearless and bright. The department was able to solve 47 criminal cases because of it, ”said Muzaffarnagar SSP Abhishek Yadav. The funeral was organized by the Muzaffarnagar police department on Tuesday.

Since Tinki fell ill and was referred to Meerut Veterinary Hospital, his handler constable Mahesh Kumar was very worried about him.

On Monday night, when they were told the tank was no longer there, they collapsed. ‘I’ve been with him for the last six years. We were inseparable, "he said. Tinky's temperament was friendly. ‘He loved playing with the kids’.

When it comes to her 'police skill', she was often surprised. ‘It is not possible for dogs to detect when a crime occurs more than 24 hours ago. This is a common case. The body could not be found once in 2017 after a murder was reported in Parsoli village in Bhopa area of Muffarnagar. Tinky sniffed and we followed him ', said Assistant Handler Constable Dharam Singh. ‘She took us to the lake, jumped inside and pulled out a corpse from the lake. Nine days had passed since the murder. The experts were also surprised.

In fact, he helped solve many cases of theft, robbery and murder in which no link was found. 'Once upon a time a man was missing for 10 days. He had no idea. Tinky took us to a place and from there we found the body of that person ', said SSP Yadav. Tinki did something extraordinary in 2017 when police were chasing thieves who stole railway property. 'He chased for 10 km and finally we chased the thieves from Mansurpur. We will deal with his loss, "said Singh.
