Some stories say that Deepavali should be celebrated for five days. On this day, the medical god Dhanvantari, who taught Ayurvedic science to mankind. He originated from the sea. On this day he should be worshiped. The second day of Deepavali is called Naraka Chaturdashi.
On the third day they will perform Lakshmi Puja. The day Lord Krishna killed Narakasura
Narakasura is the son of Bhumi Devi Bhudevi and Varaha (the third incarnation of Vishnu).
Vishnu promised them that he would kill Narakasura in his Krishna incarnation. Later, Krishna killed Narakasura and freed 16,000 women. He made 16000 women his wife. Before his death, Narakasura asked Krishna for a boon to celebrate his death on earth.
The day on which Lord Mahavira attained Moksha
According to the Jain scriptures, the twenty-fourth and last Tirthankara Bhagavan Mahavira, the teacher of Dharma, is said to have attained Moksha on the day of Diwali. It is said that the soul of Lord Mahavira became a form of purity.
The story of the recovery of Lakshmi Devi
The most powerful king Mahabali once ruled this earth. He defeated all the gods and enslaved Goddess Lakshmi. Vishnu appeared as a dwarf Brahmin in his fifth incarnation Vamana and asked him to rule some parts of the world. Mahabali agreed to this on the advice of Guru Sukracharya. It is widely believed that the coronation of the great king Vikramaditya took place the day after Deepavali. This day is called Patwa or Varshapratipada. Vikramaditya (102 BC - 15 BC) was the emperor of Ujjain and was famous for his bravery, wisdom and pride.
According to the Mahabharata epic, the Pandavas returned to Hastinapur after thirteen years of exile. The people of the country decorated their houses with earthen lamps to welcome the Pandavas.
