Kane Williamson's superb unbeaten half-century and Jason Holder's crucial innings helped Sunrisers Hyderabad to a six-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore in the eliminator at Abu Dhabi on Friday. With this, the campaign of Virat Kohli's team in the 13th season of IPL T20 cricket tournament has come to an end. That means Bangalore will still have to wait for the first IPL trophy. Hyderabad, on the other hand, will now face Delhi Capitals in the second qualifier on Sunday to reach the final. The winning team will face Mumbai Indians in the final. After being invited to bat first, Bangalore were able to score 131 for seven in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, Hyderabad won the match by 132 runs for the loss of four wickets in 19.4 overs.
David Warner and Manish Pandey took over
Hyderabad were bowled out for an easy target of 132 in the first over. Shrivats Goswami gathered the pavilion without opening an account. Skipper openers David Warner and Manish Pandey then took over. The pair put on a crucial 41-run stand for the second wicket. Warner was dismissed for 17 off 17 balls. He hit three fours. While Manish Pandey played 24 runs with the help of three fours and a six. Warner and Goswami were the victims of Mohammad Siraj while Adam Zampa collected the pavilion to Manish Pandey.
Ken Williamson's superb half century
Ken Williams batted wonderfully in the middle order. At the opposite end he was accompanied by Jason Holder. The pair patiently faced the Bangalore bowlers. The bowling of the Bangalore bowlers was very impressive but they failed to get Williamson and Holder out. The duo put on an unbroken 65-run partnership to lead Hyderabad to victory. In which Williams scored an unbeaten half-century. He hit an unbeaten 50 off 44 balls with the help of two fours and two sixes. Holder, meanwhile, played an unbeaten innings of 24 off 20 balls with three fours. Holder hit two fours off two balls to give Hyderabad the win. For Hyderabad, Mohammad Siraj took two wickets and Adam Zampa and Yuzvendra Chahal took two wickets each.
Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 131 runs
With the help of AB de Villiers' half century and Aaron Finch's crucial innings, Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 131 for seven in 20 overs. Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner won the toss and elected to bat first. However, the Bangalore team failed to register a big score. The team lost the wickets of captain Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal in the near future. Due to which Bangalore was under pressure from the beginning.
Even Kohli could not give a good start to Bangalore
Royal Challengers Bangalore changed the strategy for the eliminator match. In which Captain Virat Kohli landed in the opening with Devdutt Padikkal. However, Bangalore's strategy did not work and Kohli did not give the team a start as expected. Virat Kohli was out in the second ball of the second over. He hit six off seven balls and was the victim of Jason Holder. Devdutt Padikkal, who then made an impressive performance in the tournament, also gathered the pavilion with just one run. He was also dismissed by Holder. Bangalore lost both their openers by 15 runs.
