Read PM Modi's address at the bilateral summit with the Prime Minister of Italy

New Delhi:
Excellence, Hello! I had to postpone my Italy trip in May because of the Kovid-19. The good thing is that today we are able to meet through virtual medium. First of all, I express my condolences on behalf of me and all the citizens of India for the damage caused by Corona virus in Italy.

When other countries of the world were knowing the corona virus, trying to understand it, then you were struggling with this disaster. You quickly overcame an extremely difficult situation with complete success and organized the whole country. The success of Italy in those first months of the month inspired all of us. Your experiences have guided us all.

Excellence, like you, I am committed to deepen and deepen the relations between India and Italy. Your visit to India for Teach Summit in 2018 and our meeting has touched a lot of aspects and has created a new curiosity in the minds of the people of India. It is a pleasure that after our talks in 2018, there has been a lot of momentum in mutual exchanges.

I am glad to know that the Italian Parliament has set up the India-Italy Friendship Group last year. I hope that once the situation of Kovid improves, we will get an opportunity to welcome Italian Parliament members to India.

Excellence, it is clear that the Kovid-19 epidemic will remain a watershed in history like the Second World War. We all have to adapt ourselves to this new world, to the post corona world, we all have to be prepared afresh for the challenges and opportunities arising from it.

I am confident that our interactions today will strengthen our relations, increase mutual understanding and help identify new areas of cooperation.
