New Delhi: A 17-year-old boy has shot dead his younger sister in the Wellcome area of north-east Delhi. The sibling was annoyed by the conversation with his friend and chatting on WhatsApp. The incident took place on Thursday, according to media reports. The injured 16-year-old girl has been admitted to a private hospital. He reportedly has a bullet in his stomach and is believed to be out of danger. Police have arrested the accused brother and he is being questioned. A case of attempted murder has also been registered at the Wellcome police station.
The victim was living with her parents and brother. She did not go to school. According to police, the brother saw her talking to a boy on the phone several times. The brother also teased him about chatting on WhatsApp. Despite repeated denials, the sister did not believe, according to police. On Thursday the brother caught his sister talking to the boy again, when a quarrel broke out between the two when the boy pulled out a pistol from inside and shot the sister in the stomach. The parents rushed the injured girl to the hospital, from where the entire incident was reported to the police.
According to media reports, DCP (North-East) Ved Prakash Surya said the boy studies in an open school and works in a salon. A pistol allegedly used in the incident has also been recovered from him. According to Surya, the boy said he got the weapon from a friend who died three or four months ago. Police are also investigating the claim.a
