Sydney: Indian cricket captain and star batsman Virat Kohli is set to return home after playing his first Test in Australia. Cricket Australia on Tuesday acknowledged that Kohli's absence would not have a financial impact on the domestic board. However, Cricket Australia said that the upcoming series is very important for world cricket.
Cricket, which was shut down due to the Corona virus, is now slowly getting back on track. Cricket Australia was also badly affected by the corona, which led to the dismissal of some of its officials and cuts in staff salaries.
The Test series between India and Australia starts on December 17 which is expected to generate revenue for the home board but Kohli is set to return to India for the birth of his first child after the first Test in Adelaide.
Many doubt that Kohli's absence will have a financial impact on the board. "We respect Virat Kohli's decision," said Cricket Australia official Nick Hawkley. We are happy that he will captain the team in the first Test after ODIs and T20s.
"Kohli will captain the team in Australia," he said. We have seen Kohli's captaincy projection in the last series and people all over the world are used to seeing this in India's performances. However, financially we will not be affected. However, he said the series is very important for world cricket and Australian cricket. This series will show all the countries that we can host international cricket safely.
