New Delhi: Electronic Toll Collection has created a new record through Fastag. The National Highway Authority of India has said that through FASTAG it has now reached a level of Rs 80 crore per day with a record 50 million transactions.
NHAI is issuing a statement that 'toll collection through Fastag crossed the figure of Rs 80 crore per day for the first time on 24 December 2020. Fastag transactions have reached a record of 5 million a day. Let us know that the payment is made digitally through the fastag connected to the bank wallet. It is being told that till now 2.20 crore fastags have been issued across the country.
Also NHAI has said that 'Fastag will be mandatory for vehicles from 1 January 2021. In view of this, all necessary arrangements have been made for movement of vehicles at the toll plaza without any interruption.
NHAI said that at a time when social distance has become a new norm, commuters are increasingly looking to fastag as a toll payment option, as it is an important link between drivers and toll operators. Reduces the possibility of contact.
The NHAI said that the fastag is saving both time and fuel for passengers using the highways. The statement said that digital transactions have received a boost with the recent amendments to the Central Motor Vehicle Rules.
