In India, marriage is celebrated in the traditional way. Parents often offer gold jewelery at the wedding of girls. However, it is not easy for some poor families to give gold, but there is no need to worry anymore. Now the government will give gold jewelery as a gift to the girl's wedding. The government will give gold to the families who are really poor. Actually, the Assam Government has started the Arundhati Gold Scheme. Under this scheme, 10 grams of gold will be given as a gift in the marriage of poor girls.
How to take advantage
- To take advantage of this scheme of the Government of Assam, the first and important thing is that the girl must be at least 18 years old, while the boy should be at least 21 years old.
- In order to take advantage of this scheme, the annual income of the girl's father should be less than Rs 5 lakh. Income proof may also be required for this.
- The benefit of this scheme can be availed only once. That is, in the first marriage of the girl, she will get gold under the scheme.
This step of Assam government will reduce the number of child marriages in the state. In many areas of Assam, girls are still married at the age of 18 or even child marriage. However, with this plan of the government, many families will not get their daughter married in a hurry. This scheme is helping two-way. One is prohibiting girls from getting married at an early age and secondly poor parents will be able to give gold to their daughter.
