Sachin Tendulkar's former teammate and friend dies due to corona

India's great batsman Sachin Tendulkar has lost another friend due to the Corona virus.
Vijay Shirke, who played for Sachin Mafatlal along with Sachin and Vinod Kambli, has passed away at Corona. Vijay Shirk, 57, was a fast bowler and was admitted to Thane Hospital in Korona where he died on Saturday.

Avi Kadam, a close friend of Sachin Tendulkar, also died of covid-19 in October. Mumbai Cricket Circle is in mourning over Shirke's death due to Corona. A friend said Shirk had moved to Thane a few years back and died at a hospital in Thane. He was recovering from corona but later his health deteriorated.

Shirke, a native of Kalyan, also coached the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) under-17 summer camp in Thane for two years. "This is very sad news," Vinod Kambli told our correspondent Times of India. This is a big blow to me personally. Following our world record partnership in the Harris Shield in February 1988, we had the opportunity to play for Congress Mafatlal. Our team was very wonderful. At that time Sandeep Patil was the captain of that team. We have been friends with Vijay ever since. We affectionately called it Visa. He was very cheerful and diligent. He was a very dangerous bowler with a new ball and could outswing the ball.

"He used to come to our Shardashram school and at that time he was giving a monthly allowance of Rs 200 given by Congress Mafatlal," said Kambli, a former Indian batsman. Congress Mafatlal also gave us a job when we were 18 years old. I had a conversation with him just a week ago. We used to say good morning to each other every day. However, for the last three-four days his messages had stopped coming.
