New Delhi: Oppo is constantly introducing new designs of its smartphones. The company recently unveiled the world's first rollable smartphone. Now, the company has patented a smartphone with a removable camera module.
The outline image of this phone can be seen on the website of World Intellectual Property Office. 91mobiles first made this listing public. The patent app, along with pictures, provides information on how smartphones can work. These images focus on the back panel of the phone which has a regular camera module. However, the special thing is that it can be removed and mounted on the base / top of the phone via USB Type-C port.
Another image revealed that the camera module comes with a USB Type-C connector. It can be folded at two angles of 90 degrees and 180 degrees. With this folded design the camera can take pictures with multiple angles.
Specifically, the patent reveals that the camera module can be provided with an air lithium ion battery and can also be charged if needed. Apart from this, the camera module is also expected to offer wireless connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC.
The patent does not have to be a commercial product. This is definitely a fun concept when it comes to removable cameras. But it will be more fun to see how this technology is applied. There have been rumors about module design for a long time but companies like LG and Motorola have not had much success so far.
Oppo recently unveiled the X 2021 concept smartphone with a rollable screen . The phone comes with a variable rollable OLED display, in which the company has used a roll motor powertrain to turn a 6.7-inch screen into a 7.4-inch phablet.
