Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, have found in a study that triclosan is a harmful substance found in everyday toothpaste soaps and deodorants.
Research revealed
The researchers' study and findings were published in the journal Chemosphere, a scientific journal published in the UK. Dr. Ava, an associate professor in the Department of Biotechnology. A team of researchers led by Anamika Bhargava has concluded that adding triclosan 500 times less than the limit damages the nervous system of the human body.
Triclosan is dangerous
Triclosan is an anti-bacterial and anti-bile element that affects the nervous system of the human body. The element is also found in kitchen utensils and clothing, although its use in medical care products was banned in the 1960s.
There are no rules for its use in India
Recently, the US-based Food and Drug Administration reviewed the evidence against triclosan and banned its partial use. However, there are no specific standards for the use of triclosan in India.
We are taking chemical poison every day
Researchers at IITs say that triclosan is taken in very small amounts but its continued use in the form of chemicals in everyday items can be dangerous.
Also damages neurons
There has been a lot of research on zebrafish whose immunity is similar to that of humans. Dr. Anamika Bhargava said the study found that normal doses of triclosan not only severely affected genes and enzymes involved in the nervous system but also damaged neurons. It also seriously affects the vital system of the organism.
