Ranchi, Jharkhand: An awareness program was organized in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, today on World AIDS Day. The Jharkhand government has signaled to implement HIV test before marriage as a necessary rule. Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta told reporters in Ranchi that a number of awareness programs have been organized by the state and central governments to control diseases like AIDS. He said it is important that the next generation and offspring do not become infected with HIV and that people also become aware of the disease.
He said the government was considering HIV testing before marriage between a young man and a young woman. But before any law can be enforced, it is important for people to be aware of it. According to the information received, the number of HIV infected patients in Jharkhand is 25757 out of which 20919 patients are undergoing treatment. The rest of the patients are moving to another state or not getting their own treatment. In this epidemic of corona virus, people have not paid enough attention to HIV test. According to the Jharkhand AIDS Control Society, the number of HIV tests has been low in the Corona virus epidemic. This is because most government hospitals are busy dealing with the corona virus epidemic while private hospitals are not conducting HIV tests. In Jharkhand, HIV infected patients are given Rs. 1 thousand per month for transportation. Currently a total of 3500 infected patients are benefiting from this scheme.
