Mount Everest is the dream place for every hiker, and if you are the one who loves the king and always dream about going on Mount Everest once in your life then you should know about some interesting facts about the place. The facts are interested as well as important to know. You might know that there are only two ways to reach the summit, but there are more ways and more facts that you might don’t know.
The first two people who completed climbed together and
successfully summit Everest were New Zealand climber Edmund Hillary (L) along
with the Nepalese Sherpa Tenzing Norgay on May 29 in 1953. The latter had
earlier tried to reach to the top six times before finally scaling it with
Hillary.
The name of the summit of the Mount Everest is- Sagarmatha-
which means in Hindi- “Forehead of Sky” Sagar means- Sky and matha mean-
Forehead. While in Nepal it is known as Chomolu- meaning “mother Goddess of the
Universe”- in Tibetan.
The name of the Great Mount Everest Mountain was named in
the honor of British surveyor Colonel George Everest in 1865.
The summit has approximately one-third the air pressure than
at seas level that means you find difficulty in breaking, because of the low
oxygen.
The Mount Everest estimated to be 50-60 million years old,
and it is said that about a quarter inch higher every year. It is because of
the upward force that is produced when the tectonic plates collide.
There is a total of 17 ways to reach the summit of the Mount
Everest, but only two routes are mostly used by the climber- The Southeast
Ridge from Nepal and the North Ridge from Tibet.
Do you know about the size of the summit? Actually, it is
equal to the size of a dining table and only six people can stand at a time.
