Government of India gives scholarships to students coming from weaker sections, so that they can complete their further studies. Through these scholarships, students are able to successfully complete their school and college education every year. There are many types of scholarships offered by the government. In such a situation, let us know about those five important scholarships, which can help students to complete school and college.
(1.) National Means cum Merit Scholarship
Financially weaker students can take advantage of this scholarship after the eighth grade. Through this scholarship, a scholarship of Rs 12 thousand is given annually to one lakh students. The applications for National Means Cum Merit Scholarship are taken between August and October. Students have to go to the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) and apply online there.
What is the condition and who can take advantage of it: For this scholarship, it is mandatory for the students to have 55 per cent marks in the eighth class. After applying to NSP, a selection test has to be given. At the same time, the family's income should not exceed Rs 1.5 lakh annually.
(2.) AICTE Saksham Scholarship
This scholarship has been started by the Government of India to promote technical education among the students. Under this, scholarship is given to specially competent (Specially abled) students doing technical degree or diploma. The application form has to be filled between September-October on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). After this, students who meet the conditions are given a scholarship of 50 thousand rupees annually.
What is the condition and who can take advantage of it: The benefit of this scholarship is given to those students who are differently abled by 40 percent. In addition, the student is pursuing a degree or diploma course at an AICTE related institute. It is mandatory for the student to apply for the course through admission through lateral entry. Apart from this, the family income for this scholarship is also less than eight lakh.
(3.) Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship (CSSS)
Government of India conducts CSSS scholarship for college or university going students. Under this, scholarship is given to a student pursuing higher education in college or university after passing 12th standard. It is provided to financially weak and meritorious students. Under this, every student is given a scholarship of 10 to 20 thousand rupees annually. Applications are issued on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) between August and October.
What is the condition and who can avail the benefit: This scholarship is given to the students who get 80 percent or more marks in class 12th. To get scholarship, it is mandatory for the student to take admission in full time course. Apart from this, the income of the family should not be more than eight lakh rupees.
(4.) AICTE Pragati Scholarship
This scholarship run by the government is only for the girl students. Only two girls in a family can avail this scholarship. The Government of India issues 5000 such scholarships every year. 50 thousand rupees and other facilities are provided to the girl students through this scholarship. Applications are issued on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) between September to October.
What is the condition and who can take advantage of it: This scholarship is issued for the students studying in the first or second year of the technical degree and diploma course. According to the condition of scholarship, the student's admission in the relevant course should be through lateral entry on the basis of 12th marks. Also, the annual income of the student's family should not be more than eight lakh rupees.
(5.) Prime Minister Research Fellowship (PMRF)
This scholarship was started by the Government of India to promote research among the students. PMRF scholarship is given to those students who are studying in PhD program in any institute. Apart from this, to get this scholarship, the student will also have to follow the other conditions of PMRF. Under this, a grant of Rs 80 thousand per month is given to the student every month.
