IPL 2021: Royal Challengers Bangalore Beat Delhi Capitals By 1 Runs In Thrilling Match

In the thrilling match of IPL 2021, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Delhi Capitals by one run.
Chasing 172 runs from RCB, Delhi's team could only manage 170 runs for four wickets despite Shimron Hetmyer's stormy half-century (17-ball 53 runs). Pant definitely imposed Fifty, but his strike rate was very low, this outweighed Delhi. He scored 58 runs in 48 balls. Earlier, RCB, after losing the toss and batting first, scored 171 for five from the stormy innings of AB de Villiers. De Villiers scored an unbeaten 75 off 42 balls with five sixes and three fours. Apart from them, Rajat Patidar (31) and Glenn Maxwell (25) also played useful innings. Bangalore's team managed to add 77 runs in the last seven overs.

Chasing the target, Delhi's condition deteriorated. Shikhar Dhawan (6) and Steve Smith (4) were dealt cheaply. After Dhawan hit a four, Kyle Jamison became the victim, then Smith was followed by Mohammad Siraj. Prithvi Shaw scored 21 off 18 balls with three fours and was caught by keeper AB de Villiers off Harshal Patel. Pant added 42 runs for the fourth wicket with Marcus Stoinis. Stoinis became the second victim of Harshal Patel after scoring 22 runs off 17 balls with three fours.

De Villiers dominated RCB innings

Another aggressive half-century by AB de Villiers, in good form, helped Royal Challengers Bangalore to 171 for five. Rishabh Pant, captain of Delhi Capitals, decided to bowl first after winning the toss, after which the pair of captain Virat Kohli and Devadatta Padikal gave a cautious start to RCB. Paddikal opened the account with a four on Ishant while Kagiso Rabada also hit the four. Paddikal was lucky in Ishant's next over when Akshar Patel dripped his catch at mid-on. Kohli meanwhile hit fours at Rabada and Avesh Khan. However, after scoring 12 runs off 11 balls, Kohli played on Avesh's ball for wickets, while on the next ball, Ishant bowled Paddikal who scored 17 runs in 14 balls.

After losing two wickets in two balls, Bangalore's team could score 36 runs for two wickets in the power play. Glenn Maxwell hit sixes on spinners Amit Mishra and Akshar Patel to bring the team score to 50 runs in the eighth over. Maxwell catches Steve Smith at long on in an attempt to land another six on Mishra. Maxwell scored 25 runs in 20 balls. Rajat Patidar and AB de Villiers then pushed the innings forward. Patidar smashed Mishra and Ishant, hitting sixes and completed the century of the team's runs in the 14th over.

23 runs in the last over

De Villiers also hit a six on the letter but Patidar was caught by Smith at long on in an attempt to hit a six on this left-arm spinner. Patidar scored 31 runs off 22 balls. De Villiers hit a four and a six on Rabada, but this fast bowler caught Washington Sundar (06) on his own ball and gave the Bangalore team a fifth blow. De Villiers completed a 35-ball half-century with a four on a charge and then brought the team's score to 150 with a six off the second ball of Marcus Stoinis in the final over. De Villiers also hit sixes off the fourth and fifth balls and added 23 runs in the over.
