Why did Lord Vishnu take the form of Mohini
According to the scriptures, when the Amrit Kalash came out at the time of churning the sea, there was a dispute about this thing among the gods and demons. All the gods sought help from Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu took the Mohini avatar to distract the attention of the demons from the Amrit Kalash. After this, all the gods performed Amritpan. This day was the Ekadashi date of the month of Vaishakh, hence it is known as Mohini Ekadashi. This fast was kept by Lord Rama and Yudhishthira.
