Under Train Travel Insurance, Rs 10 lakh is available in the event of death or temporary disability. This insurance is very useful in case of train accident or any similar situation during the journey. In case of permanent partial disability, the coverage of insurance is up to Rs.7.5 lakh.
Up to Rs 2 lakh is available for hospitalization and treatment during that time. This amount is over and above the death and disability coverage. Coverage is available under this insurance for train accident, theft, dacoity or any such situation.
Who is eligible for IRCTC Travel Insurance?
All those passengers are eligible for this insurance plan offered by IRCTC, who have booked tickets through IRCTC website or app and have opted for travel insurance. Passengers have to opt for this facility only while buying train tickets. This facility is available only to Indian citizens. If a foreign citizen travels in Indian Railways, then they do not get this facility of travel insurance.
What is the claim filing process?
- IRCTC has tied up with three insurance companies for this. These three companies are Bhartiya AXA General Insurance, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, Shriram General Insurance Company and ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Limited.
- You have to keep in mind that you are buying this insurance from any one of these three companies. It is being provided to you through IRCTC. In such a situation, all such claims are directed to the website of the insurance company itself.
- After purchasing the insurance at the time of booking the ticket, the policy document is sent to you via email.
- The most important thing for you to keep in mind is that the concerned company has to fill the nomination details. If you do not do this, then if necessary, its settlement is done to the legal heir.
