Turmeric Side Effects: Turmeric has many medicinal properties but its excessive use can cause some side-effects on the body.

Turmeric is a popular yellow spice native to South Asia. It is an essential ingredient of many Indian dishes. It is also used to benefit health. Turmeric is gaining more and more attention as a natural remedy in recent years. The main active ingredient of turmeric is curcumin. Its supplements or curcumin are also becoming increasingly common.

Due to the medicinal properties of turmeric, it is suitable in the treatment of many diseases. It can be applied for quick healing of wounds. It is helpful in treating knee pain and heart disease. But it can also have potential side-effects if used in high doses, so should be used in limited quantities. Some people worry about the side effects it has. It is generally completely safe as long as it is not consumed in excess.

May affect the digestive system- If you are using turmeric more than the recommended amount, you may suffer from constipation, diarrhoea, vomiting, indigestion and abdominal pain. It contains large amounts of oxalate which can increase the risk of gallstones if consumed in excess.

Do not use in the problem of stones- If you are suffering from kidney stones, then try to ignore turmeric. Its use can only benefit the body in the required quantity. But, in case of any problem contact the doctor.

May cause infertility- Men taking large amounts of turmeric supplements can affect testosterone and reduce sperm motility, leading to infertility.

Can cause iron deficiency- Certain compounds present in turmeric can react with iron. This can impair the body's ability to absorb iron from food, which can lead to iron deficiency.
