But today we are going to tell you about the whiskey which is the most expensive in the world. We are talking about Single Malt Whiskey, knowing about the cost of which will blow your senses.
US$30,000 whiskey
A single malt whiskey can cost up to US$30,000. A few years ago, The Macallan 1926 sold a bottle worth $1.5 million. Hearing this, your senses will also be blown away because many things can be done easily in this amount. Many people will think many times before spending this amount. But what was it in this whiskey that it got such a price. Only 12 bottles of Macallan are ready. Glendfich is considered to be one of the best single malt whiskeys in the world. Its 50 year old bottle costs up to 30,000 US dollars.
Why is single malt whiskey expensive?
Preparing single malt whiskey is a difficult and lengthy process. This whiskey is prepared from Barley i.e. barley. After this, barley is mixed with ground water. It is heated up to 64 degree centigrade. It is heated so much that it turns into sugar, turning into a nice sweet, tangy liquid called wort. This wort is cooled and then it is put in wash boxes. It is heated first in copper wash stills for distillation and secondly in spirit stills.
what is its specialty
In 30-year-old single malt whiskey, up to 30 to 40 percent of the alcohol can be evaporated in the barrel. Or you can understand it in such a way that every year 1% alcohol is added to the life of whiskey. Any whiskey is said to be the best because it has 'angels share'. Angels share i.e. that natural evaporation of liquid which from time to time dissolves in the environment. Because of this process, any whiskey is so expensive because it is an extraordinary process.
Angel's share and its rarity make single malt whiskey even more expensive. In Scotland, due to the cold temperatures, evaporation is very low, but when the whiskey is kept for 60 years, a significant amount of angel's stock is lost. When a product is lost due to evaporation then it becomes an extraordinary product.
