Indian Railway: Now 16 stations will be built like airport, these facilities will be available

Indian Railways has decided to upgrade these railway stations to ensure better infrastructure and accessibility for the passengers.

Indian Railway: Indian Railways will invite bids in the next two months for the redevelopment of a total of 16 railway stations, including Delhi's Anand Vihar Terminal, under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. According to sources, other railway stations to be redeveloped include Tambaram, Vijayawada, Dadar, Kalyan, Thane, Andheri, Coimbatore Junction, Pune, Bengaluru City, Vadodara, Bhopal, Chennai Central, Hazrat Nizamuddin and Avadi railway stations.

According to the plan of Indian Railways, bidding for the redevelopment of all these railway stations can be done in this financial year. These railway stations will be upgraded to ensure better infrastructure and accessibility for the passengers. According to sources, various monetization models are being examined to encourage the private sector.

In the first phase, there is a plan to redevelop 199 stations with a strength of 50 lakh per day. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said earlier this month that the design of the redeveloped stations will also include provision of space for retail sales, cafeteria and recreational facilities. Vaishnav had said that tender has been issued for 47 stations and work is going on at 32 stations. So that the benefits of the facilities can be given to the passengers as soon as possible.

These 3 stations will be rejuvenated

Indian Railways had proposed to the government for redevelopment of New Delhi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Ahmedabad railway station. This proposal of the Railways was recently approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with a total investment of about Rs 10,000 crore. After the completion of the redevelopment work of New Delhi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Ahmedabad railway station, these three railway stations of the country will be made more hi-tech than the airport. A target has been set to complete the redevelopment of New Delhi station in three and a half years.
