World Human Rights Day: 10 rights that no one can take away from you till death

The Human Rights Act came into force in India from September 28, 1993 and the government constituted the National Human Rights Commission on October 12.

Human rights means those fundamental rights, from which a person cannot be deprived on the basis of caste, religion, language, race, regionalism, nationality etc. Those rights, which you get from birth and remain with you till your death. These rights include right to live with dignity and freedom, socio-economic rights, right to education-medical etc. On 10 December 1948, for the first time, the United Nations announced the adoption of human rights. Since then, International Human Rights Day is celebrated every year on 10 December. Today you should know about your 10 such rights, which no one can take away from you till death.

The first right is the right to live. That means it is the responsibility of the government to protect your life. The second right is the right to be free from torture, inhuman and degrading treatment. And the third right is the right to equal treatment. That is, there should be no discrimination against anyone on the basis of colour, caste, religion, gender etc.

The fourth right is the right to privacy. It protects us from government or corporate surveillance. Information related to us cannot be used without our permission. The fifth right is the right to asylum. At the same time, the sixth right gives you the freedom to choose your life partner after a legal age.

The seventh right is related to your freedom of expression. It gives you the right to have your own independent views, to follow or leave the religion of your choice. Eighth you have the right to work. The ninth right is the right to education. And the 10th right is of social services. Under this comes the rights to ensure the standard of living along with food, clothing, housing, medical and security.

The 2022 theme for International Human Rights Day is 'Dignity, Freedom and Justice for All'. Talking about India, human rights have been guaranteed in the country's constitution. The Human Rights Act came into force in India from September 28, 1993 and the government constituted the National Human Rights Commission on October 12. There are also human rights commissions in the states, where complaints can be made in case of human rights violations.
