A day before it plans to end the country's three-year-old 'zero-covid' policy, China on Saturday also ordered the release of those detained over covid-related incidents.
Amidst the havoc of Corona , China has taken a big decision. China will end the quarantine for foreign travelers from today. Along with this, it will also fully open its airports and ports for travel and trade. After the ban is lifted, foreign travelers can reach China without nucleic acid tests and segregation restrictions. A day ahead of its plan to scrap the three-year-old 'zero-covid' policy, China on Saturday also ordered the release of those detained over covid-related incidents.
China will end restrictions on foreign travelers from 12 noon on Sunday, fully opening its airports and seaports for travel and trade amid a large-scale coronavirus outbreak in the country. Actually, the quarantine rule was in force in China for the last three years (from March 2020). Passengers coming from any other country were forced to pass through the quarantine.
Zero-Covid policy was relaxed last month
China is grappling with a sharp rise in cases of coronavirus infection due to the Omicron variant after the government relaxed its strict zero-covid policy last month in the wake of anti-government protests. Officials argue that the omicron form is not as lethal as the delta form, which has caused large-scale deaths around the world.
Order to release those detained
Ahead of a complete relaxation of Covid rules, the Chinese government on Saturday ordered the release of those detained for Covid-related cases. A government notice said that any property seized should be released. The 'South China Morning Post' newspaper, published from Hong Kong, reported that the order asked local courts, police and the customs department to implement the policy related to Kovid-19 in accordance with the law.
Outcry from Corona in China
