Dasun Shanaka gave victory to Sri Lanka after 6 years, Team India lost even after Axar Patel-Suryakumar's stormy innings


Sri Lanka defeated India by 16 runs in the second T20 International played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Thursday (January 5) thanks to the all-round performance of captain Dasun Shanaka. With this, Sri Lanka has equalized the three-match series 1-1. In response to Sri Lanka's 206 runs, the Indian team scored 190 for the loss of 8 wickets. 

First win after 6 years

Sri Lanka defeated India in a T20 International match on its soil after six years and has done this feat for the third time till now. Earlier in 2016, Sri Lanka had defeated India in a T20 match at this very ground in Pune. 

Axr Patel and Suryakumar played stormy innings

Chasing a mammoth score, the Indian team got off to a bad start and lost 5 wickets for a total score of 57 runs. After this, Suryakumar Yadav and Akshar Patel handled the innings together and shared a 91-run partnership for the sixth wicket. 

Akshar played an inning of 65 runs in 31 balls with the help of three fours and six sixes. At the same time, Suryakumar Yadav scored 51 runs in 36 balls, in which he hit three fours and three sixes. Apart from this, Shivam Mavi showed the power of B bat and scored 26 runs in 15 balls. 

Dasun Shanaka came in for the last over of the innings for Sri Lanka and took two wickets to end India's hopes of victory. Apart from this, Dilshan Madhushanka and Kasun Rajitha took 2-2, Vanindu Hasaranga and Chamika Karunaratne took 1-1 wickets in their account.

Shanaka and Kusal Mendis lashed out at Indian bowlers

Batting first after losing the toss, Sri Lanka scored 206 runs at the loss of 6 wickets. Kusal Mendis along with Pathum Nissanka added 80 runs in 8.2 overs for the first wicket. Mendis scored 52 runs in 31 balls with the help of three fours and four sixes, while Nissanka scored 33 runs. After this, three more wickets fell within the next 30 runs. Then Aslanka increased the pace of runs and scored 37 runs in 19 balls.

Captain Shanaka, batting in a stormy manner, scored an unbeaten 56 in 22 balls with the help of two fours and six sixes. Due to which Sri Lanka scored a huge score of 206 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Indian bowlers looted 93 runs in the last five overs.
