Former Union Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Sharad Yadav passed away on 12 January. His daughter Subhashini Sharad Yadav informed about this through a social media post. Many leaders including PM Narendra Modi have mourned his death.

Sharad Yadav was 75 years old. He was admitted to a private hospital in Gurugram, where he breathed his last on 12 January.

Fortis Memorial Research Institute issued a statement on the death of Sharad Yadav saying that Yadav was brought to the emergency ward in an unconscious state. During the health check-up, his pulse was not taken or blood pressure was not recorded. All attempts at treatment failed. He was declared dead at 10.19 pm.
He was born on 1 July 1947 in Hoshangabad, Madhya Pradesh. He became a member of the Lok Sabha for the first time in 1974. Was Lok Sabha MP 7 times. He was also a cabinet minister in the center. After separating from JDU in 2017, he formed his own party Loktantrik Janata Dal in 2018. In 2020, he merged his party with RJD.
