Pee Scandal: Accused Shankar sent to judicial custody for 14 days, will be heard on bail on 11th


Delhi Police had demanded three days police custody of Shankar Mishra. The police told the court that Shankar Mishra is not cooperating in the investigation. Rejecting the demand of the police, the court said, "There is no reason to send the accused to police custody."

Delhi's Patiala House Court on Saturday sent Shankar Mishra, accused of urinating on a female co-traveller during an Air India flight, to 14-day judicial custody , refusing to send him to police custody . Shankar's bail plea will be heard next week. Earlier, the Delhi Police arrested Shankar from Bengaluru for allegedly urinating.

During the production of Shankar Mishra in the Patiala House Court, the police told the court that the interrogation of the accused was necessary so that the crew member, Captain, could identify him. The Delhi Police requested the court for three days police custody of the accused, which was turned down in the court. The court said, “There is no reason to send the accused to police custody. Police custody of the accused is not required for further investigation.”

Delhi Police had demanded three days police custody of Shankar Mishra. The police told the court that Shankar Mishra is not cooperating in the investigation. The police also said that investigation is on in the matter. Statement of crew members has to be recorded, statements of some crew members have been recorded. The court has sent the accused Shankar to judicial custody for 14 days. The Patiala House Court has issued a notice on Shankar Mishra's bail plea. Shankar's bail will now be heard on January 11.

Delhi Police arrested from Bangalore

Earlier, Delhi Police arrested the accused of Air India urine scandal from Bengaluru. The police officer told about the arrest that through technical surveillance it was found that the accused Shankar Mishra is in Bengaluru.

The accused, Shankar Mishra, had allegedly urinated on an elderly woman in an inebriated condition in the business class of an Air India flight from New York to Delhi on November 26 last year. The Delhi Police had registered an FIR against Shankar on January 4 on the basis of a complaint given by the woman to Air India.

How was the arrest of accused Shankar

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Airport) Ravi Kumar Singh said, “A Delhi Police team has arrested Shankar Mishra, an accused in the IGIA case, from Bengaluru. He has been brought to Delhi and investigation is being done in the case.” A Bengaluru Police official said that the accused was staying at his sister's house in Sanjay Nagar, Bengaluru and the Bengaluru Police helped the Delhi Police in arresting him.

Delhi Police officials told that Shankar Mishra had switched off his mobile phone on January 3 and his last location was found to be in Bengaluru. He told that he used to take a taxi to travel in Bangalore. His travel details were ascertained and the route he used to reach his office was traced.

He told that Shankar Mishra's location was found in Mysuru on Friday late night. By the time the Delhi Police team reached there, he had alighted from the taxi. On questioning the taxi driver, some information came to hand. Police told that the place from where Shankar was arrested, he often used to stay there.
