Tendulkar, Ganguly, Laxman never pass Yo-Yo test: Virender Sehwag

The Yo-Yo test has once again come into limelight. Taking major decisions in the review meeting held at the beginning of the year, the BCCI has made the yoyo test mandatory for selection in Team India. In such a situation, now the players who pass this test will be able to make a place in the team. Meanwhile, the statement of former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag related to Yoyo Test has gone viral.

Virender Sehwag had said in his statement, 'I do not agree with all these things. Had these criteria existed earlier, even players like Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly would not have been able to clear it. I've never seen them pass the beep test. They would always fall behind by 12.5 points. In such a situation, this should not be the criteria for selection.

Let us tell you that Yo-Yo test is a unique way to check the fitness and stamina of the players. There are 23 levels in this technology-assisted test, but for players it starts from the 5th level. Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey have always lived up to the top numbers in the YoYo test.

On the other hand, if we talk about the players of Team India, then in big tournaments like T20 World Cup 2021, T20 World Cup 2022, the team had to face defeat due to injuries of the players. Veteran players like Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah were injured just before the World Cup due to which Team India could not take the field with their strong playing XI.
