These 6 states are 'topper' in higher education, UP number-1, revealed in AISHE report

AISHE Report : Ministry of Education has released AISHE Report 2020-21. Details of admission in university-colleges have been given.

In the session 2020-21, the total enrollment in higher education in the country was recorded at 4.14 crore. This is 7.5 percent more than a year ago i.e. 2019-20. While it is 21 percent more than in 2014-15. These figures have been released by the Union Ministry of Education. The Ministry of Education released the All India Survey of Higher Education ( AISHE ) 2020-21 on 29 January 2023. In this way, the Ministry is conducting a national survey of higher education i.e. All India Survey of Higher Education since 2011. All higher education institutes of the country come under its ambit.

According to the survey, enrollment of women in higher education increased from 1.88 crore in 2019-20 to 2.01 crore in 2020-21. That is, this year 13 lakh more girl students took admission in universities and colleges. If it is compared with 2014-15, then the increase is 28 per cent.

Highlights of AISHE Report

As per the estimates for 2011 population in the age group of 18-23 years, the Gross Enrollment Rate has increased from 25.6 to 27.3 per cent in 2019-20.

In comparison to the year 2019-20, an increase of 1.8 percent has been recorded in the Gross Enrollment Rate (GER) of ST category students in 2020-21. The admission rate of students of this category increased from 16.41 lakhs in 2014-15 to 21.6 lakhs in the year 2019-20 and 24.1 lakhs in the year 2020-21.

In this, it was said that the enrollment of students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC Category) increased from 46.06 lakh in the year 2014-15 to 56.57 lakh in the year 2019-20 and 58.95 lakh in the year 2020-21.

Enrollment of students belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC) at higher education level increased from 1.42 crore in the year 2019-20 to 1.48 crore in 2021-21.

According to the report, enrollment in higher education through distance education was recorded at 45.71 lakh in the year 2020-21, in which the number of women was 20.9 lakh. In this, an increase of seven percent was registered as compared to the year 2019-20.

It has been said in the report that Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Rajasthan come in the top 6 states of the country according to the number of students admitted.

According to AISHE 2020-21, out of total admissions, 79.06 percent students took admission in graduate level courses. While 11.5 percent enrolled in PG level courses.
