'Aloo Paratha, Dhokla and History...', this discussion took place in Amit Shah's meeting before the removal of Article 370

KJS Dhillon Book On Article 370: Lieutenant General (Retd) K.K. J. S. In his book, Dhillon made a big claim regarding the removal of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. He wrote that the purpose of Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Srinagar on 26 June 2019 was to finalize the government's resolution to abrogate Article 370 from the Valley. Dhillon's book is yet to be released.

The book 'Kitne Ghazi Aaye Kitne Ghazi Gaye', authored by Dhillon, will be released on February 14 in honor of the 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel killed in a suicide attack near Lethpora in south Kashmir in 2019. He has written in his book that Amit Shah's visit on 26 June 2019 was being considered as a prelude to a dramatic announcement. I got a call at two in the morning, in which I was asked to meet the Home Minister at seven in the morning.

Aloo Paratha-Dhokla was mentioned

Without divulging much about his meeting with the home minister, the Lt Gen (retd) wrote that during our meeting several sensitive issues were discussed apart from delicious food including Aloo Paratha and the famous Gujarati dish Dhokla. He has written that understanding Pakistan's reaction to an important announcement was also included in this discussion.

"Somebody's gotta make history"

The retired lieutenant general wrote that I would also like to mention that the Home Minister was fully aware of the agenda. He clearly did extensive research and brainstorming. At the end of the meeting I was asked about my personal view and my response was that if history is to be written, someone will write history (we can write history only when we create history).

Article-370 was removed from Jammu and Kashmir in 2019

This was the last meeting held in Srinagar before the government announced the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019. After the repeal of this provision, the special status enjoyed by Jammu and Kashmir ended and the state was divided into two union territories. Lieutenant General (Retd) Dhillon (KJS Dhillon), who was heading the local army command in Kashmir, wrote in the book that at the end of it, I would say with pride that the objective was achieved.
