Big step towards self-reliant India! Tejas made a successful landing on INS Vikrant


About 4 months after commissioning the indigenous INS Vikrant for the Indian Navy, indigenous aircraft Tejas has successfully landed on it.

Aircraft carrier INS Vikrant has crossed another milestone. For the first time a fixed wing aircraft has landed on INS Vikrant. The Navy-designed version of India's indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas has successfully landed on INS Vikrant as part of sea trials. Indian Navy has given this information on its social media handle.

Indian Navy has shared pictures on Twitter handle @indiannavy. In these pictures, Tejas can be seen landing on INS Vikrant. Sharing these pictures, the Indian Navy wrote, 'Indian Navy has achieved a historic milestone in the direction of self-reliant India. The pilot has landed the Light Combat Aircraft on board INS Vikrant.

The Indian Navy in its post has described it as a big step towards India's self-reliance. Navy further wrote in its post, 'This successful landing shows India's ability to design, develop, construct and operate indigenous aircraft carriers with indigenous fighter aircraft (Tejas).'

INS Vikrant is equipped with features

INS Vikrant weighing 45 thousand tonnes was commissioned for the Indian Navy in September last year. The total cost of making it has come to 20 thousand crore rupees. Its length is 262 meters and width is 62 meters. This is the biggest warship ever built in India. INS Vikrant can carry 30 aircraft simultaneously. These aircrafts include MiG-29K as well as fighter jets and helicopters.

Not only this, a crew of 1600 people can run simultaneously on INS Vikrant. It has been made in India after almost a decade of hard work. INS Vikrant is named after the warship being used before it. Let us tell you that the old INS Vikrant played an important role in the war against Pakistan during Bangladesh Liberation in 1971.
