IIT Bombay Suicide Case: Last Sunday, an 18-year-old student at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) committed suicide by jumping from the seventh floor of the on-campus hostel. After this, the Powai police registered a case of accidental death in this whole matter and started investigating the matter.

According to the information, the deceased student has been identified as Darshan Solanki. The student was from Ahmedabad in Gujarat and was studying in the first year of chemical engineering at IIT. According to the police, the student had fallen from the seventh floor at 11:30 am on Sunday. Police has not received any suicide note from the spot.
Alleged discrimination against SC student
At the same time, some students have alleged that the scheduled caste student was allegedly being discriminated against in the campus. Due to this he took the step of suicide. Darshan had finished his semester exam just a day before the suicide i.e. Saturday. In such a situation, the police is now also investigating whether Darshan has committed suicide due to fear of not performing well in the exam.

On the other hand, a press release regarding Darshan Solanki has been issued by the APPSC- IIT Ambedkar- Periyar- Phule Student Circle student organization inside the IIT campus. The Ambedkar-Periyar-Phule Student Circle student organization alleges that Darshan Solanki committed suicide because he was being harassed on campus on the basis of his caste. Considering the seriousness of the matter, a committee has been constituted by IIT Bombay to investigate the death of Darshan Solanki.
