Malaysia Plane Crash 1976: The Government of Malaysia has released a secret report on a plane crash that happened about 50 years ago. High profile Malaysian leaders and ministers were killed in the 1976 plane crash. The Malaysian government kept the secret of this accident hidden for decades, but on the demand of the people, the government had to release the report. Malaysia's top leaders and ministers were traveling in an Australian-made Turboprop aircraft when the plane crashed.
In the report released by the Malaysian government, it has been told that neither there was any fire in the plane, nor there was any technical fault, nor there was an explosion. According to the report, more goods were loaded in the aircraft than required. The baggage of another aircraft was also loaded in this aircraft. Due to poor loading of luggage, the center of gravity of the aircraft was affected and in the end the aircraft crashed.
Malaysia double six tragedy
Previous governments had refused to make public the investigation report of the accident – which was dubbed the Double Six tragedy. Fuad Stephens, who was the Chief Minister of Sabah, Malaysia, was killed in this accident. Many senior leaders and many cabinet ministers were also on board the plane. The family members of the leaders killed in this accident also put pressure on the previous governments to release the report. Finally, the government of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim released the secret report.
Plane crashed before landing
The incident dates back to June 6, 1976, when an Australian-made Nomad An-22B aircraft crashed. The accident happened during landing at Kota Kinabalu International Airport in Malaysia. 11 people including the then Chief Minister of Sabah and the pilot of the plane were killed in the plane crash.
The training of the pilot of the plane went bad
According to the crash report, a 42-year-old pilot was flying the plane. Usually there are two seats for the pilot in the cockpit of the aircraft. However, due to the high number of minister-leaders, the co-pilot of the plane was taken off, and his 10th passenger was seated. The captain of the aircraft had neither taken drugs nor had any serious problems. It has been said in the report that the training of the pilot was a bit poor, while the pilot was fit in other respects. The pilot was tired and had a stomach ailment.
