42 percent people in the country prefer not one or two but so many rooms in Delhi-NCR, read the report

According to The Housing Market Boom report released by real estate consultancy Anarock and Confederation of Indian Industry, based on a survey conducted among 4,662 people, 40 per cent Indians prefer 2 BHK, 12 per cent 1 BHK, and 6 per cent 3 BHK or Prefer to buy a house with more rooms than that.

Even after retrenchment, there has been an increase in the demand for expensive houses i.e. flats or houses costing more than Rs 1.5 crore. The top 7 Indian cities have sold 113,770 units till March 2023, a record for residential housing sales in each quarter. According to Anarock, this is 14 per cent more than the 99,550 units sold in the first three months of last year.

There may be an impact on the growth of the housing market

According to Anarock Group Chairman Anuj Puri, layoffs by companies are expected to impact demand and growth of the housing market in the next two quarters. He said that many home buyers affected by the retrenchment may postpone the decision to buy a home till their employment situation stabilises. However, the negativity will go away by FY2025. He said that those who cancel the decision to buy a house does not mean that they will not buy, but they will buy later.

People want to buy a house for themselves

The report further states that millennials continue to drive housing demand. At least 52 per cent of the total participants who chose real estate as an asset class for investment are millennials who prefer to buy homes for their own use. This is the age group that was born between 1981 and 1996. 30 percent of Generation X is those who were born between 1965 and 1981. 11 percent of Generation Z were born after 1997.

At least 36 per cent people in the survey are focusing on homes that will be ready for possession within a year. 58 percent people want to buy a property between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 1.5 crore. 62 per cent insist on well-ventilated homes, and another 55 per cent consider study rooms extremely important.
