According to a report published in the Clinical Nutrition Journal, coffee can reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes. However, it is not very effective for people who smoke.
Coffee Can Reduce Diabetes: Diabetes is such an incurable disease, which cannot be eradicated from the root. But this can be avoided by improving your lifestyle and food habits. Along with this, taking less stress can stay away from this dangerous disease. In a recent study, it has been claimed that drinking coffee can reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes. This has been claimed in a report published in the Clinical Nutrition Journal.
Researchers of this research analyzed the data set by dividing it into two populations, which include the UK Biobank of the United Kingdom and the Rotterdam research of the Netherlands. From 2006 to 2010, more than 5 lakh people were included in the UK Biobank. At the same time, about 15 thousand people were included in the Rotterdam research.
What was found in the research
In the study, researchers observed changes in the levels of inflammation biomarkers associated with type 2 diabetes. According to research, drinking 1 cup of coffee daily reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance by 4 percent due to reduced inflammation. According to health experts, type 2 diabetes is partly considered an inflammatory disease. High concentration of pro-inflammatory markers in plasma is associated with the risk of type 2 diabetes.
What is the role of inflammation in diabetes?
Drinking coffee reduces insulin resistance, due to which the risk of type 2 diabetes is reduced. In people with type 2 diabetes, the insulin produced by the pancreas cannot control blood sugar levels. But the polyphenol compounds in coffee improve insulin inflammation, thereby reducing systemic inflammation.
Smokers do not benefit
Researchers also found in research that the effect of coffee will be less for people who smoke. When they compared the effect of coffee on diabetes risk among smokers, non-smokers and never-smokers, it was found that coffee had a positive effect on those who had never smoked.
