America: Legal battle over abortion pill intensifies, decision of two different judges creates ruckus

Last year, after the order of the Supreme Court in America, there was an uproar regarding the abortion pill. Then people had also demonstrated on the streets.

The legal battle over the abortion pill has intensified in Texas and Washington . The reason is two different decisions of federal judges in this case. The case is about the abortion pill mifepristone, over which the legal battle intensified when the Supreme Court last year overturned an earlier ruling that legalized abortion and ordered that individual states in the US Separate rules can be made on whether the right to abortion for women will be legal or not.

Now in this case, the federal judge of Texas has stayed the approval given by the Food and Drug Administration regarding the abortion pill. Actually this ban has been imposed because the Justice Department has to give 7 days time to appeal in this matter. On the other hand, on Friday night, a federal judge in Washington State said that the FDA should keep the abortion pill available in at least 12 states.

There was a ruckus even on the decision of the Supreme Court.

Let us tell you that after the decision of the Supreme Court last year, demonstrations were held at many places. These demonstrations were done because after the decision of the Supreme Court, it was believed that more than half of the states can implement restrictions regarding abortion law.

What do the statistics say about abortion

According to the Guttmacher Institute, according to data provided by the Reproductive Health Research and Policy Organization in the United States in 2020, this abortion pill has been used by more than 50 percent of people. That means a total of 930,160 abortions have taken place with this pill. This figure was 17 percent in the year 2008 and 39 percent in 2017.
