Apple's first store has opened in the country's economic capital Mumbai. Many people's statements and reactions are coming out on this occasion. On the other hand, Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar said on Tuesday that Apple has given direct jobs to more than one lakh people in the manufacturing sector in India in the last two years.
The Deputy IT Minister tweeted that due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visionary PLI scheme, the Apple ecosystem created more than one lakh new direct jobs in the manufacturing sector in the last 24 months. If we look at it from another point of view, Apple has hired 137 people daily in two years. Rajeev Chandrashekhar furthering his point said that out of one lakh, about 70 percent of the women who are 19-24 years old have got jobs. These women are starting their career from here and are working on enhancing their skills.
iPhone export record of 5 billion
There has been an increase in Apple's manufacturing in India and in the financial year 2023, the export of iPhone from India has exceeded 5 billion dollars. The special thing is that India's total smartphone exports crossed $10 billion in the last financial year. Apple started manufacturing iPhone in India in 2017. Tim Cook will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Deputy IT Minister on April 19 before the launch of the company's second store in Delhi on Thursday.

CEO Tim Cook himself was also present at the launch of Apple's first store in India. This store has opened at Jio World Drive in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai. The Apple Store is spread over 20,000 square feet over two floors, about a third the size of Apple's flagship store in New York but comparable to the outlet on Regent Street in London. About 100 people will get employment in this, who together can speak 25 languages. During his proposed meeting with the government, Tim Cook may discuss the company's plan to manufacture more products like earphones and smart watches in the country and export them from India apart from the iPhone.
