NIT Silchar: A junior student has been admitted to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) in critical condition, the relatives of the victim have filed a case against 18 seniors in serious cases.
Silchar: A case has been registered against 18 students of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Assam's Silchar for allegedly assaulting two juniors on the campus. The incident is being told on March 31. The victim student is a fourth semester student. The police have registered a case in this matter and started investigation. Student Siddhant Patya has been admitted to Silchar Medical College in critical condition.
The relatives of the victim student have filed a police case against 18 senior students in this matter. Student Patya said that his seniors were constantly troubling him about his mother tongue and hometown. These students had also threatened the victim several times. He told that since the day I came here, I have been facing racist comments. And I am constantly being harassed.
Student thrashed by racist abuse
He further told that the accused had broken the glass of my car, when I opposed it, they started fighting with me. They continued the violence for almost an hour. They used racist slurs, slapped and kicked me, not only that they broke three glass bottles on my head and my back. When my friend tried to save me, he was also beaten up.
Victim's mother made serious allegations
On the other hand, the victim's mother told that there are many serious injury marks on her son's body. He said that the college administration should take this matter seriously. The names of the accused against whom the FIR has been registered are Sparsh Munakhia, Yogesh Kakodies, Biswajit Deb Nath, Yash Tripakshi, Abhijit Kalita, Dhritiman Das, Sourav Deka, Shohan Paul, Pratyush Rai, Prafulla Chatham, Anas Ahmed, Prateek Vij, Dixit Agarwal. , Mehul Devangam, Raj Parishad, Satyavrat both, Supratik Gogoi and Biki Das.
According to Mr. Paitya, some other students were also involved in the incident. Cachar police chief Numal Mahatta said that they have registered a case on the basis of the student's complaint. Police is talking to the officials of NIT.
