According to a report in Financial Express, the victim of the scam is a 55-year-old Italian man living in Hong Kong. The man was matched with a woman on Tinder and formed a romantic relationship with her. Later both shared WhatsApp numbers and started chatting on WhatsApp. After the two developed a relationship, the impersonator lured the victim into signing into a fake trading website in order to invest in digital currency. The cyber thug told the victim that investing in digital currency can fetch high returns.
