Creating history on Wednesday, the Kolkata Metro crossed the Hooghly river in 11.55 minutes. This is the first time that a metro has run under water in the country. According to the information, during the trial run, General Manager of Metro Rail P Udaya Kumar Reddy was also present in the metro.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has also tweeted expressing happiness on this occasion. In this he wrote, the train traveled under water. Describing this as another miracle of engineering, he said, the metro rail tunnel and station under the Hooghly river. Along with this, he has also shared a video in which the metro is seen running under water.

Trial run will last for 7 months

This metro service is likely to start from December. According to the information, during the journey from Howrah Maidan to Esplanade, there will be a part of about 520 meters under the Hooghly river, which can be covered in 45 minutes.
