The use of LPG for cooking has increased, but only 49.8 per cent households in rural India have shown its use for cooking. In Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, less than one out of every four people have used LPG for cooking. At the same time, a similar situation is also seen in UP, Rajasthan, Assam, Meghalaya, because the income of the people has decreased rapidly

What has come to the surprise of all the people in this survey is that only 68.8 percent of the rural households have access to exclusive toilets. In Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, this coverage is less than 60 percent. Whereas, the coverage in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal is between 60 to 70 percent. It is important to understand the reasons for low coverage in some states.
