Now even the World Bank is going to be ruled by the person of India. Actually, Ajay Banga of Indian American origin is going to become the next President of the World Bank. According to the report of Economic Times, America, the largest shareholder of the bank, has supported Banga. Along with this, he also has the support of many other countries, including India. 63 year old Banga can lead the bank. Because apart from him, there are not many people who challenge him in this race.

Before this he has been president from Asia

The first Asian American to lead the bank was Jim Yong Kim during 2012-19. Kim was born in Seoul and moved to America when he was only five years old. He had studied in India and started his professional life with Nestle and PepsiCo in India itself. He came to America in the year 2000 and in 2007 he got the status of American citizen.

When Banga took over the responsibility of the bank, two of his team members were Indians. These included Chief Financial Officer Anshula Kant and Chief Economist Indermeet Gill. It was a never-seen-before event, when two top executives sitting in Washington DC would be able to talk to each other in Hindi.

Indians are present in many big positions in the bank

According to the report, a World Bank official said that today the World Bank is an Indian bank along with the American bank. Bank's Chief Risk Officer Lakshmi Shyam Sundar said that such strong representation is coming in the bank, which we cannot see in other multilateral banks. He said that if we leave the President of the bank, who is always an Indian. So today there are more Indians than Americans who are in leadership positions. The Chief Risk Officer of the bank is also an Indian.

While these top officials have no direct bearing on India's schedule, the fact is that India is the bank's largest client and is often seen as an important partner. In the financial year 2022, it has approved a loan of $ 3,986 million or about four billion dollars.
