Infertility is being seen more in people living in urban areas.

It has been told in the report that there are about 12.6% people in the world who are struggling with the problem of infertility for some time. According to the World Health Organisation, a couple is considered infertile when they have been trying for a baby for a year without any protection or contraceptives, but are unable to conceive.

The report was released on the basis of 133 studies

The figures released by the World Health Organization are based on an analysis of 133 different studies published between 1990 and 2021. Of those, 66 studies were conducted on husbands and wives, while 53 were conducted on people who were not married and living in a consensual relationship with their partner. Infertility was long standing in these people. Even after several attempts the problem persisted.

Infertility is more common in women

It has been told in the report that the problem of infertility is more in women. However, the number of females was higher in the total population included in this study. Most of the people included in this study were from Europe, where about 35% of the participants came from, while 9% of the total study participants were from South Asia, which includes India. The problem of infertility is also increasing in India. A lot of IVF clinics have opened here since last one decade.

Infertility treatment costs a lot of money

Childless couple in India are spending out of pocket money for treatment. The cost of an IVF procedure is very high. It costs several lakh rupees. In many cases IVF is also not successful. IVF facility is available in private hospitals in the country. Procedures like IVF are not easily done in government hospitals. Most of the government hospitals do not have this system. Wherever it is, the process takes a long time.
