Operation Kaveri: The first batch of Indians stranded in violence-hit Sudan has left for the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah. There are total 278 citizens in this batch. They are being brought from Sudan Port to Jeddah via INS Sumedha. After reaching here, they will be brought to India by Indian Air Force aircraft.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted pictures of Indians stranded in Sudan. In the pictures, Indian citizens can be seen boarding INS Sumedha. Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan is monitoring Operation Kaveri.

Let us inform that yesterday Foreign Minister S Jaishankar had given information about Operation Kaveri by tweeting. Two Air Force aircraft are on standby in Jeddah. Indian citizens will return to India through these planes. IANS Sumedha is responsible for taking Indian citizens to Jeddah.
The Government of India has told that more than 3 thousand Indians are stranded all over Sudan and our first priority is to bring them safely to India. Violence continues in Sudan for 10 days. Recently, an Indian had also died during the violence.
How is the current situation in Sudan?
Significantly, in Sudan, more than 400 people have been killed so far in the ongoing violence between the army and paramilitary forces. The great thing is that among those killed there are more than 250 civilians. According to a report, more than three thousand people have been injured in the violence, who are not getting timely treatment, because there has been huge devastation in the hospitals as well. Millions of people of Sudan have been imprisoned in their homes for 10 days, who are facing problems like commuting, drinking, electricity and internet.
