Saudi Space Mission: There was once a ban on driving – now flying in space, know about Saudi's first woman astronaut

The first woman to go to the space station in Saudi Arabia will be a big success as an Arab country, this crew will fly on 9th May.

Till 2018, Saudi Arabia was a country in which women could not drive a car. When this ban was lifted by the Saudi Prince , Saudi Arabia was the last country in the world to do so. This was the year when women were allowed to participate in sporting events in the stadium.

Now Saudi Arabia has made preparations to send its first female astronaut into space on May 9. It is a matter of pride for all the Saudi women who till five years ago had many restrictions in the country. According to a recent tweet by the Saudi Space Commission, Saudi Arabia's first female astronaut will be Rayna Barnawi, who will fly to space next month.

Will join the crew

According to the tweet of the Saudi Space Commission, Rayna Barnawi will be part of the ten-day mission to the International Space Station. She will go on the mission with Saudi astronaut Ali Al Karni. The special thing is that she will join the crew of AX-2 space mission. This crew will fly from Florida to the sky.

Who is rayna barnawi

Rayna Barnawi, who is going to become Saudi's first female astronaut, is a 33-year-old biomedical researcher. Reyna has graduated in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Otago, New Zealand. He also has a master's degree from Alfaisal University Riyadh, which he has done in Biomedical Science. Prior to this, Reyna has been a part of cancer stem cell research for 9 years. Looking at these experiences of hers, this time Reyna has been made a part of this mission of Space Space Station.

These astronauts will also fly

Former NASA astronauts Peggy Whitson and John Schoffner will also join the team along with Rayna Barnawi and Saudi male astronaut Ali Al Karni. This mission is being done by Axiom Space, a private space company.

Important step for Saudi Arabia

It will be a great success for Saudi Arabia's first female astronaut to go to international space. Saudi Arabia is a country where women have been bound by many rules and laws for a long time. For example, for a girl to marry or travel in Saudi, the permission of her male guardian was necessary. Till 2018, women here could not even drive a car, nor could they participate in sports activities in the stadium. Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman amended these rules. Now women can also travel by air in Saudi without the permission of a male guardian. Other rules have also been relaxed.
